"Keep Clovis Beautiful", an affiliate for
"Keep America Beautiful", is part of the Parks and Recreation Department.
Keep Clovis Beautiful won the Keep America Beautiful President's Award in
2003.
The City of Clovis Parks and Recreation Department provides an array
of physical resources for residents. Included in the resource base are
seventeen parks or recreational areas encompassing 3,400 acres of which
600 acres are developed for recreational use. There are 17 baseball/softball
fields, 11 soccer fields, 3 football fields, two indoor gymnasiums, 12
playgrounds, two swimming pools, a 9 hole golf course and a par 3 golf
course, 23 open play areas, one archery range, one model airplane flying
area, an off-road vehicle area, and four volleyball courts.
The Department received the following awards in 2001 from the New Mexico
Recreation and Parks Association (NMRPA): Parks/Ground Maintenance
Award and the Park/Trail/Bikepath Design Award for the Potter
Park Project.
