7th Street to Reopen on Friday, November 17, 2023

CLOVIS, NM (November 15, 2023) – The City of Clovis is thrilled to announce the reopening of Seventh Street from Maple Street to Main Street, scheduled for this Friday, November 17, 2023. This project, undertaken to improve connectivity and accessibility, signifies an investment in our city’s infrastructure.

In the early 2000s, 7th Street between Humphrey Road and Norris Street was widened to provide four-lane access to Clovis Community College and the Civic Center at the east end of the street. In 2020, the area between Norris Street and Maple Street was widened using a combination of capital outlay and City of Clovis funding to provide safer transportation for residential and commercial areas. 

The City of Clovis is excited to complete the last phase of the 7th Street Project. The project included widening, ADA improvements, drainage, sidewalks, bike lanes, lighting, signs, striping, and signals. The construction will ensure a safe transportation system that leads directly into Clovis’ historic downtown and Mainstreet District. The improvements will also create a safer, more efficient route for emergency response vehicles to the east part of the community.
