Gunther and Dave Valantine have teamed up to bring the Pet Partners Read with Me Program to Clovis-Carver Public Library Through the Pet Partners Read With Me Program families are able to read with Gunther during his visits to the Clovis-Carver Public Library. Emerging readers have found that reading with Gunther is a motivational tool and allows them to have a non-judgmental listener. Parents enjoy seeing the interaction between Gunther and their children as they build their reading skills and confidence. Gunther is 90 pounds of lovable, patient, encouraging listening!

Dave and Gunther are a highly qualified team that are re-evaluated every two years. They are certified to work in many environments including libraries, nursing homes, schools, and hospitals. Dave and his late wife started working in animal therapy in California in 2003 and were crucial to building a very successful program in Santa Clarita. His career eventually brought Dave and Gunther to the Clovis area where he still enjoys volunteering for the Pet Partners Read With Me Program through the library and hopes to expand their work in the community.
