The City of Clovis Celebrates Arbor Day with Tree Planting on April 26
CLOVIS, NM (April 12, 2024) – The City of Clovis would like to invite the public to join them at a tree planting ceremony held at Hillcrest Park, near the south side of the new Hillcrest Senior Life Center, scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2024, to celebrate National Arbor Day. A red oak tree will be planted.
The City of Clovis is part of Tree City USA, a program that has been in existence in cities and towns across America since 1976. It provides the framework necessary for communities to manage and expand their public trees. Arbor Day, much like Earth Day, celebrates nature. Its purpose is to encourage people to plant trees in their communities.
“Our park areas greatly benefit from all the beautiful trees we enjoy which enhance the environment,” advised Parks and Recreation Director, Russell Hooper. “We encourage the public to join us in celebrating Arbor Day.”
The City of Clovis Parks and Recreation Department will be planting a total of forty trees this spring. Eighteen have been planted at Ned Houk Park, one at Greene Acres Park, and ten at Hillcrest Park.
For more information regarding the tree planting ceremony, please contact the City Manager’s Office at (575) 763-9670.
