RIBBON CUTTING AT POTTER PARK FOR UPGRADES AND SECURITY AT MARTIN LUTHER KING MEMORIAL SCHEDULED FOR 9:00 A.M. MONDAY, JANUARY 20TH, 2014

A ribbon cutting has been scheduled for 9:00 a.m., Monday, January 20th, 2014 at Potter Park for the upgrades and security work for the Martin Luther King memorial.

Area state legislators appropriated funding for the City of Clovis for upgrades including fencing and lighting at the Martin Luther King memorial following the theft of the Martin Luther King plaque from the memorial in 2012.

“As we commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King and his many contributions to the civil rights movement during various planned events this weekend, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our area legislators, particularly Representative George Dodge, for allocating capital outlay funding to secure the Martin Luther King Memorial in Clovis,” stated Clovis Mayor David Lansford, Wednesday.

“I would like to thank our area legislators and the City of Clovis for working with the Martin Luther King Commission to complete the security work at the Martin Luther King memorial,” advised Ms. Joyce Pollard, President of the Martin Luther King Commission.  “We have a lot of activities planned for this weekend and Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 20th, and I would like to invite the public to join us in commemorating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King.”
