CITY OF CLOVIS MAYOR READS PROCLAMATION FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT

CLOVIS, N.M. (May 11, 2023) – City of Clovis Mayor Michael Morris will read a proclamation recognizing peace officers and police officers for all their hard work on
Monday May 15, 2023 starting at 2:30 p.m. in front of the Clovis Police Station.

The city is declaring National Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15 and also recognizing May 14-20, 2023 as National Police Officers Week. City of Clovis Police Chief, Roy Rice, encourages anyone who would like to show their support for the Police Department to join them during the proclamation reading.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and National Police Week was established by a joint Resolution of the United States Congress that same year.

The city of Clovis’ proclamation states the City of Clovis recognizes law enforcement officers strive to maintain a safe environment for all, often while facing significant challenges and dangers, and our community recognizes the important work and sacrifices officers make each day to protect the citizens of Clovis.

If you get a chance this week, thank a police officer!
