City of Clovis to Receive Funding from the New Mexico Clean and Beautiful Grant Program

Each year the City of Clovis applies for funding through the New Mexico Clean and Beautiful grant program to support beautification efforts within the community. Past projects have included the City’s clean-up events and the Yard of the Month program. This year the City of Clovis has received funding from the program in the amount of $19,478.10, the largest funding amount that Clovis has ever received, which will be used to support beautification initiatives in the Clovis community, including:

• Organizing clean-up events in the fall and spring
• Establishing recycling receptacles at Hillcrest Park
• Purchasing equipment to support the graffiti removal program
• Purchasing membership fees to the Keep America Beautiful program

“We would like to thank the New Mexico Tourism Department and the New Mexico Clean and Beautiful program for providing us with this funding,” commented District 4 Commission, Fidel Madrid, who also serves as the Chairman of the Parks, Recreation and Beautification Committee. 

Parks and Recreation Director Russell Hooper also commented on the importance of this funding. “The New Mexico Clean and Beautiful grant is vital for our community to help us keep Clovis beautiful. We are thrilled to have received funding this year and look forward to advancing these projects on an ongoing basis.”

As part of the first efforts of this grant, the City of Clovis is hosting Trek for Trash, their fall clean-up event, on Saturday, October 9, 2021. The community is encouraged to volunteer to help alleviate litter throughout Clovis.
