CLOVIS MAYOR DAVID LANSFORD PARTICIPATES IN ASSOCIATION OF DEFENSE COMMUNITIES PANEL ON MILITARY VALUE IN CHARLESTON, SC

City of Clovis Mayor David Lansford participated in a panel in relation to Military Value at the Association of Defense Communities Installation Innovation Forum 2016 conference in Charleston, SC, Monday.

The focus of the conference, which is attended by representatives from communities located adjacent to military installations, is on building and sustaining military value.

Mayor Lansford’s presentation covered a diverse area of topics regarding the continuing efforts being put forth by the Clovis area community in support of the expanded mission of the 27th Special Operations Wing at Cannon Air Force Base. Areas discussed by Mayor Lansford included Clovis’ assistance in addressing the expanded educational needs of the new mission, economic development and job creation, housing, hospital expansion, and quality of life.   Mayor Lansford also discussed the efforts put forth by the State of New Mexico and Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce’s Committee of 50 in supporting and expanding the Melrose Air Force Range.

“Our area community is a community of patriots who wholeheartedly support the mission at Cannon,” advised Mayor Lansford, Monday. “The efforts put forth in saving the base through the 2005 BRAC, and in the subsequent support of the new mission at Cannon, have been unprecedented. These largely successful efforts are a testament to what can be achieved when we work together in support of the men and women who dedicate their lives to the protection of our country.”
