FORMER CLOVIS FIRE CHIEF RON EDWARDS APPOINTED TO REJOIN FIRE DEPARTMENT AS FIRE CHIEF EFFECTIVE JUNE 2, 2014
City Manager Joe Thomas announced Thursday that former Clovis Fire Chief Ron Edwards will rejoin the Clovis Fire Department effective June 2nd, 2014.
Edwards joined the Clovis Fire Department in 1973 where he progressed through the department, serving as firefighter/EMT, Engineer, Shift Lieutenant, EMS Coordinator, Fire Investigator, Assistant Fire Chief–Fire Marshall and Fire Chief from March 24th, 2003 until his retirement in October 2004. Prior to joining the Fire Department, Edwards served the USAF from 1961-1973.
Edwards graduated from Kern Valley High School California in 1961 and from the National Fire Academy in 1982 and 1991. His former professional affiliations include the International Association of Fire Chiefs, National Fire Protection Association, International Society of Fire Service Instructors, International Association of Arson Investigators and the New Mexico Fire Marshall’s Association. Edwards is actively involved in various local organizations.
“After interviewing numerous candidates for the position, it is apparent that Chief Edwards has the experience and qualifications needed to lead the department,” stated Clovis City Manager Joe Thomas, Thursday. “With his familiarity of the operations and personnel, he will be able to insure that the Clovis Fire Department will continue to provide fire protection and emergency medical service to the community without interruption.”
