Plains Regional Medical Center Meets to Discuss New Ob/GYN Services

Clovis Mayor Michael Morris and Mayor Pro Tem Chris Bryant, who serves as the Clovis City Commission representative on the Plains Regional Medical Center Board, met with PRMC leadership on Monday to discuss the work PRMC is undertaking to address the OB/GYN needs of the community when Women’s Medical Center closes on June 10th.

During the meeting, PRMC Hospital Administrator Jorge Cruz advised PRMC has retained the services of five (5) OB/GYN doctors and also plans to provide midwives as part of the new PRMC OB/GYN team, as well as other support staff.  “PRMC’s goal is to ensure there is no gap in service,” advised Mr. Cruz, Monday.  “Members of the public can now call 575-769-7577 to schedule their first appointment for the service PRMC will be providing effective June 10th.”

“We are grateful to Plains Regional Medical Center for the excellent care they provide Clovis area residents as a community partner,” advised Clovis Mayor Michael Morris, Monday. “Women’s Medical Center has provided excellent care for our community, and we are grateful to PRMC for their willingness to address the future obstetric and gynecological needs of the community.”

At the invitation of the City of Clovis, Dr. Albert Kwan, Medical Director/General Surgeon for PRMC in Clovis, together with Mr. Jorge Cruz, will be attending the next Clovis City Commission meeting to share information and answer questions regarding the OB/GYN service PRMC will be providing.  This meeting is scheduled for 5:15 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Library, located at 701 N. Main Street, and is open to the public.  

“We encourage the public to attend this City Commission meeting to learn more about the program PRMC will be providing and for PRMC to answer any questions or concerns they may have,” advised Mayor Pro Tem Bryant.  “It is important that we make sure the public is aware that PRMC will be providing this service in the community.”
