Reminder from Code Compliance: Weed And Grass
CLOVIS, NM (June 9, 2023) – The City of Clovis Building Safety Department would like to remind citizens that keeping the city free of weeds, debris and rubbish will improve our quality of life by improving the aesthetics of the city as stated in Chapter 8.16 of the Clovis City Code. Weeds and grass must be kept cut below 12 inches within the City limits. This includes backyards, alleys and vacant lots or fields. Weeds in curb lines and along fences must also be trimmed.
Eliminating a harbor for rodents, decreasing illegal dumping and littering, eliminating fire hazards, and deterring crime by increasing visibility and access, will promote the development and beautification of the city.
City of Clovis Building Safety Code Compliance Division is comprised of four Code Compliance Officers and a Supervisor. Each Officer is assigned to one of four zones dividing the City of Clovis into four equal parts. This division is supported by a three-person Environmental Response Team. Staff members are responsible for ensuring all property within the city limits of Clovis are in compliance with regulations regarding weeds, debris, rubbish, brush, temporary signage, unsightly or unsanitary matter.
With the recent rainfall, there are areas of the City of Clovis in need of beautification from weeds and debris. Code Compliance Officers will attempt contact with property owners for rectification prior to any enforcement action.
