Thornton Street Construction Project Beginning First Lift of Asphalt

K. Barnett and Sons is continuing their work on Thornton Street from 21st to Llano Estacado. The pipe trench is being prepared for paving and, during this time, will not be passable to traffic. After the first lift of paving is complete, there will be a 2-inch lip between the new and existing asphalt. Residents are safe to drive in these areas afterwards but are asked to please use caution when driving. K. Barnett is working to facilitate local traffic as much as possible. 

Paving will occur on Thornton Street from 21st to Manana from November 11 through November 16, 2021. The paving work will progress from Manana to Llano Estacado from November 16 through November 19, 2021. A future announcement will be made after Thanksgiving regarding the final lift of asphalt. 

In addition, other affected intersections include Llano Estacado/Thornton and North Prince/Wilhite. The work is part of the City of Clovis’ construction of the effluent reuse water pipeline. The public is asked to follow all detours during this time and to seek alternate routes.
