Quarterly meetings are scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on the last Monday of the month in January, April, July, and October.
Purpose
The library board is an administrative agency of the City, acting in an advisory capacity, to assist the City Commission to ensure efficient, economical management and operation of the Clovis-Carver Public Library.
Appointment/Qualifications/Terms
The library board shall consist of nine (9) members who shall be residents of Curry County. Seven (7) of the members shall serve a staggered two-year term and shall be appointed by the mayor, with the advice and consent of the Clovis City Commission.
The City Commission and the Curry County Commission shall each appoint one of its members to the library board. The commissioners shall serve during the term for which each was elected to their respective commissions.
There shall be two (2) non-voting student members on the library board, to be appointed by the mayor, with the consent of the City Commission. Terms of the student members shall be two (2) years.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Advise and assist the City Commission in the development and application of policies and programs relating to the library.
-Evaluate policies, plans, procedures, codes, resolutions, ordinances, and rules and regulations of the City relating to the operation of the library.
-Take action necessary to obtain from citizens, consultants, commissions and boards, comments, and recommendations relative to the operation of the library.
-Make reports to the City Commission of the activities of the library board and recommendations of the library board.
-Consult with the library director regarding rules and regulations for public use of the library facility.
